Lawn Watering Regulations
To aid in the preservation of the City of Becker's water resources and allow the City's water system adequate time to replenish the water supply in the storage tanks; please adhere to the Odd/Even Lawn Watering Ordinance! DUE TO THE DROUGHT LIKE WEATHER THAT WE HAVE HAD THIS SUMMER WE WILL BE EXTENDING THE EVEN/ODD LAWN WATERING ORDINANCE UNTIL THE END OF THE WATERING SEASON!
During the timeframe of Memorial Day to Labor Day of each year, a resident may only irrigate or sprinkle lawns within City limits: Sec.3.20 Subd.6.B.
- Before 10:00 am and after 6:00 pm.
- Residents with an address ending with an odd number such as 1, 3, 5, etc. shall sprinkle or irrigate lawns when necessary only on odd-numbered calendar days, and those with addresses ending with an even number such as 0, 2, 4, 6, etc. shall sprinkle or irrigate lawns on even-numbered calendar days.
- Exceptions. The restrictions established in paragraphs 1 and 2 above do not apply to the use of water:
A. From a hose that a person holds by hand;
B. For recently established lawns. Those lawns may be watered daily for up to one month after installation, but only during the hours listed above.
C. From a source of water other than the City's water system if the water user has registered the other source with the Water Department, obtained a water appropriation permit if required under Minnesota Statute 103B.211, subd. 4, and posted a sign provided by the Water Department that clearly informs the public of the alternative water source.
If a person claims the privilege of an exception, a representative of the City may inspect that person's property during reasonable times to ensure that there is compliance with this provision.
Thank you for your respectful attention to this ordinance!
