Did you know, the City of Becker recently adopted a new ordinance requiring massage therapists to be licensed in the City of Becker?
Residents / Clients – What does this mean?
With the passing of this ordinance you can rest assured that the massage therapist you can rest assured that the person you have schedule your massage with has had bona fide and standardized training in therapeutic massage, health and hygiene and can provide a legitimate service to you as their client. Every Massage Therapist licensed in the City will be required to have their license available at all times while providing these services.
Massage Therapists – What does this mean?
Business owners will now be required to complete an initial massage establishment business license and renewal applications each year thereafter. In addition, each massage therapist operating under the massage establishment license will be required to complete an initial application for a massage therapist license and a renewal license each year thereafter. The initial application will required detailed information with a shortened renewal application.
Am I exempt from licensing requirements?
There are exemptions to the licensing requirements. Please refer to Chapter 6 of City Code, Section 6.27, Subdivision 5 for the exemptions from licensing. The following is a link to Chapter 6 of city code: Chapter 6. Please navigate to page 68 for a list of the exemptions.
